March 2009 Lynette has had the opening paragraph of her e book published in Justine Davies new book " How to afford a Husband." Ok, well it is just a paragraph,( page 192) but hopefully it will inspire Lynette to get on with her book! Available at ABC bookshops. Rockhampton Bulletin 2 April 2007 "Accredited Family Law Specialist Lynette Galvin said that her firm, Journey Family Lawyers, has been very busy ever since it opened on 3 April 2006. “We have really loved helping people end their matters quickly she says although she admits that local solicitor Margaret McKenzie has had to teach her boss “a fair bit about cattle and cropping practices” for the property cases over the last year”. Lynette wanted to thank the people of Rockhampton for their support by offering these seminars for people who might not otherwise have an opportunity to obtain advice on their case. “The biggest challenge of the past year has been the new changes to the law about shared parenting that came in mid last year” Lyn says “there was fair bit of confusion in people’s minds about what it would mean but a recent Full Court decision has given everyone a lot of guidance”. Lynette and her team have enjoyed the camaraderie of other lawyers in the Rockhampton area and see their role as Specialist Family Lawyers as complimentary to other firms and not as competition. “It makes sense” said Lynette today “to see a specialist if you need to, we only do family law and other firms specialise in different things”. The first seminar was held on 3 April 2007 with a paper to be delivered by Antonious Abdelshaheid, Family Lawyer, on the changes to Superannuation in family law and also on the changes to the Child Support Act that took place this year and are also planned for July this year and next year. Topics covered were the changes to Family Law Act in relation to children’s matter and a further seminar in relation to child support changes and one in relation in superannuation in property law cases. Lynette noted that miners in particulars have difficulty arranging time with their children because of the hours that they work and the problems with shift work. Lynette and her team have a number of ways that they can work around these issues. When asked her greatest achievement to date in Rockhampton, Lyn proudly said “handling the heat, and the fact that most of our clients who started with us a year ago have now moved on and their matters are finished”. Rockhampton Bulletin 31st March 2007
